Audubon Corkscrew Swamp - March 2016

Day 3 Florida Vacation - Audubon Corkscrew Swamp - March 2016

I love visiting Corkscrew Swamp. The boardwalk offers lots of excellent viewing.

Our birds while there were a pair of White Eyed Vireos who almost landed on us, several Red Shouldered Hawks, a Little Blue Heron, a Black Vulture (very high up), Carolina Wrens, Anhinga, and Red-bellied Woodpeckers. We had a group of four Pileated Woodpeckers that were very entertaining and noisy. We also saw a few warblers - Yellow-rumped, Black and White, and a Palm. There was an Ovenbird and a Blue-Gray Gnatcathcher. A Great Crested Flycatcher. The highlight was an Indigo Bunting and a male and female Painted Bunting.

There are also other creatures there as well. We saw otters, alligators, anoles, skinks, racoons, turtles and bugs.

When leaving, at a farm just outside the gates, we saw wild Turkeys and Sandhill Cranes.
