J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge - March 2016

Great vacation. 7 days on Sanibel Island. We saw 70 different birds. On day 2, we visited J.N. Ding Darling National Wildlife Refuge. Super fortunate, we showed up at sunrise and had a low tide. Upon entering the wildlife drive, we came upon a flock of Spoonbills. Also with them were some Little Blue Herons, Tricolored Herons, a Great Egret and a Pied-billed Grebe. Further down was a small group of White Pelicans. Plenty of Cormorants and Blue winged Teals were present as well as a Mottled Duck. The Ospreys were nesting and we saw a group bathing on a sandbar. Ibis' are the robins of Florida! LOL

We did see several Alligators, one right below the road. Saw nesting Anhinga and a nesting Yellow Crowned Night-Heron. Butterflys were present and lots of Anoles and crabs.
